Virtual Innovative Teaching and Technology Summit

Today, I attended a virtual talk as part of the Virtual Innovative Teaching and Technology Summit at SLEEC Island. The talk was by Esme Qunha called "You don't have to be a virtual world geek!" It was neat to see many other educators from all over the world.

The speaker used the coolest tool called a likert (see pic below). She used it as part of a group warm-up activity to see how many of the avis were educators.

Welcome Sign

As part of Session 6, we had to create a welcome sign. This is mine (see pic left)! It has special meaning to me because the image is a painting that my mother recently did. It is called Becoming.

Science Friday

This photo is of me (Nahala) attending a Science Friday talk in SL. A professor of chemistry at Texas A&M sent me the notification. She and I met at a beach bash at the Texas A&M campus in SL several weeks ago.

Helping a Classmate

A rewarding experience happened last week. One of my fellow classmates, Shep, needed to engage in a role play for class, but no scheduled events were happening at the time. So, I helped him find a rather "dashing" elf outfit and we danced at the Avillion sim. Other avis were around, but engaged in slow dances, so we hated to interrupt. Molokai joined us for a waltz or two...it was so funny!
